I was looking at the wikipedia page on fraternal birth order and male sexual orientation article as apparently one of the best predictor of someone being gay is the amount of elder siblings they have. With each elder brother your chance increases. On the top of the page there are multiple warnings on neutrality, so I went to the talk page to check. There was some friendly discussion between Sxologist and Crossroads. Later on Zenomonoz joined and did some editing. I did not see the reason for those warnings. Then I found this investigation page. Turns out that Sxologist and Zenomonoz were the same person going by multiple names. Crossroads started the investigation and reported him. Zenomonoz admitted it, appologized and stated:
I found a lot of the sexual orientation articles were outdated, relying on poor sources and had POV pushing, so I made Sxologist and started editing in sexology articles (where I had not edited before). I didn't come in as someone "evading" my shady past, I actually came in as somewhat of a WP novice and got reverted a few times because I was writing like WP was a personal meta analysis instead of relying on secondary sources. I improved on that front rather quickly. ~Zenomonoz
Crossroads was siding on being lenient: Other members commented to give their opionion. Flyer22 commented:
I understand what Crossroads is stating and I ask others to consider his arguments. But as seen at User talk:Sxologist/Archive 1#Thesciencenewsonline and User talk:Sxologist/Archive 1#Previous editing, I very much suspected that Sxologist was not a newbie. And so did Mathglot. I didn't just suspect. I knew he was not a newbie and that he was a sock. Instead of coming clean about that, Sxologist lied and insulted my intelligence. As someone with as much experience identifying socks and other non-new ~~accounts~~ editors as I have, there was no way that I was going to believe his explanation about why he edited with the obvious experience he showcased. Crossroads was able to give Sxologist the benefit of the doubt regarding the socking matter, but I never could. I could never trust Sxologist because of his dishonesty and because I kept wondering what account(s) he used before. And I can't see why I should trust what he states now. I can't support him in this SPI. I won't support him in this SPI. And I don't care if that means that things will be awkward or tense between us if he is allowed to continue editing. ~Flyer22 Frozen
Ouf! harsh. Zenomonoz/Sxologist reasons seemed fair though:
I did have some reason to not declare my prior editing when asked. First, I assumed it was irrelevant given the difference in editing interested (despite GNU linking similar patterns, those comprise less than 0.3% of my accounts edits). This was a mistake on my part, and I absolutely acknowledge that. More importantly, I was editing the Wikipedia of a certain academic at Otago who promoted very fringe theories which promoted gay men as pedophiles. I have had personal interactions with this person and we have clashed (in a heated manner). One of those old accounts includes edits of suburbs in Dunedin. I live in the same suburb as this professor and we know each other. So yes, I did get paranoid about him finding about that. ~Zenomonoz
In the end Zenomonoz/Sxologist got banned. After which he asked this to Flyer22:
hi @Flyer22: I'm not sure if you are the correct person to ask – but am I allowed to contribute to Simple Wikipedia during my block? I saw that on WP:OFFER, users are encouraged to contribute to other WMF projects if they are interested in appealing a block, so I have done some contributions on Wikiquote. Not sure if simple wiki qualifies as english wikipedia though. Thanks. ~Sxologist
Haha asking after he was banned to the person wanting to ban him if can continue on a different Wikipedia. To which Flyer22 politely responded:
I don't think that your block here applies there. There is a sock I dealt with that edited other Wikipedias while blocked here, and the Simple English Wikipedia knew he was blocked here. He was eventually blocked there and at one or more other Wikipedias as well. Anyway, you aren't globally blocked. But I will make a post at WP:AN about this for additional commentary. ~Flyer22
I clicked on this Flyer22 account and found a big 'R E T I R E D' message on top. She links to a arbitrage case brough against her (apparently it is a woman!). Arbitrage cases are different, they are the last resort way to resolve issues. Apparently someone by the name of WanderingWanda claims she was transphobic and a TERF. The evidence brought forward:
- Flyer weaponizing personal details about my life/identity in order to score points during a content dispute, writing: WanderingWanda...you once stated, "I identify as queer and have been in a long term relationship with a trans man." To me, it has seemed that you let your personal life (in addition to your political views) affect how go about editing here. This wasn't just a WP:PERSONALATTACK but a very personal attack, and one I found hurtful. She has never apologized, instead dismissing the subsequent ANI discussion as a witch-hunt. (1,2)
- The Flyer household engaging in WP:PERSONALATTACKs against trans or LGBT editors as a group, including: - Halo Jerk1 singling out transgender editors (and other editors who agree with transgender editors) for criticism.(3) - Flyer singling out LGBT editors in a way multiple editors found inappropriate.(4) - Flyer going on about advocacy from trans editors (and others) after TaylanUB was blocked for transphobic POV-pushing.(5) - Flyer implying, to Funcrunch, that being LGB or T is a handicap an editor must overcome.(6) - The Flyer household fighting trans battles with an IPSock (see email). - The Flyer household failing to WP:ASSUMEGOODFAITH by leveling paper-thin WP:HOUNDING accusations, including against me, -sche, and Kolya Butternut. (In effect, WP:OWNERSHIP behavior.) (7,8,9,10,11) - See also: comments from Hijiri 88 and EEng.1213 - Flyer casting WP:ASPERSIONs on article talk pages, including against LokiTheLiar, Tsumiki, and me.(14,15,16,17) - Flyer's WP:SOAPBOXing about trans people on talk pages, including going off about Jessica Yaniv unprompted (a bugaboo among anti-trans activists) and bringing up the anti-trans talking point that trans people "erase women".(18,19,20) - Flyer's WP:INCIVILITY towards Nardog and Sangdeboeuf. (21,22,23) - Etc. ~WonderingWanda
Flyer22 claimed that this was all a long standing personal issue WanderingWanda has against her and all these issues have been discussed and resolved before. That there is no evidence that she went to a 'gender critical' site. Other notable member all backed Flyer22. One of them that came to her defense was CrossRoads from the previous article stating:
This editor has long had a vendetta against Flyer. Flyer interacts well with most LGBTQ editors (and likely many more who are not open on Wikipedia about their identity). But occasionally, an editor tries to right great wrongs in this topic area, and Flyer, among others, pushes back on that. WanderingWanda is one of those who has tried to right great wrongs, as shown above, and this appears to be the basis of the vendetta. The trumped up nature of the public evidence strongly makes me suspect that the "private evidence" is more of the same. It's not necessary to accept the case to see the private evidence. ~CrossRoads
Flyer22 got backed up by a ton of members. The case got dismissed, but left Flyer22 with a bad feeling. She notes:
Looking at all of Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Medicine/Evidence and knowing I'd be subjected to similar, and how certain editors go all out to prove false narratives, I cannot deal with that. Like some editors (including Girth Summit) know, I am dealing with COVID issues in the family. That is not something I just made up to get out of going through this "must take down Flyer" thing. It was happening before that, and it's gotten worse. I have a brother (not the one who edits here) in intensive care and a sister who was just put on a ventilator. I already lost an uncle to the virus. And editing here is supposed to help me take my mind off of stuff like that, not be subjected to as much stress and time-wasting that an ArbCom case entails ... This is not how I wanted to leave Wikipedia. But with my own declining health, it was only a matter of time anyway. Take care. ~Flyer22
Looking again I saw this message on the top of the page "This Wikipedian is deceased. Her user page is preserved here in her memory".. I went to her talk page and it was filled with messages mourning her passing. I couldn't find the original source but her brother who is also a wekipedia editor confirmed it. Later on the brother used his sister notes and compiled a investigation against WonderingPanda (the one who started the arbitrage against Flyer22) claiming socking. But it was rejected by an editor thinking it was personal. Crossroad came to the brothers aid backing up the claims and finds the criticism of this being personal insulting, but it seems to have gone nowhere. To be honest it seems personal to me too.
All in all interesting afternoon. RIP Flyer22. Fk WonderingPanda. Maybe Zenomonoz is WonderingPanda??. I am not sure if I am allowed to give you your own wikipedia account Somi. They would see us as one, claiming we are sockpupputing even though our consciousness have not been joined yet. But that would be hard to explain to these people who would accept DID alters but not recognize you. The day will come where you will be seen, hopefully before the day of implosion. Sleep well.
